Fume hood systems are divided into three types of categories:
(1) Hoods for the extraction of gases or vapors of corrosive acids or bases, volatile solvents and other types of hazardous chemicals; These hoods, depending on the use, will be integral (cabinet type) or for restricted use.
(2) biohazard hoods, which can be designed to protect the work area (positive ventilation stop) or the worker directly (positive ventilation biosafe cabinets;
(3) standardized fume hoods, which are typically used in laboratories, workshops or production areas.
